He swings a boot at it, before Benzema cutely backheels it past Lux.
There’s no question Benzema is onside, but Bale was standing directly in front of Lux in a clearly offside position. The Deportivo players are understandably furious, but it counts. 1-0.

Carvajal pops up on the right hand side of the pitch in acres of space, and swings in a beautiful cross to the very middle of the six yard box. Gareth Bale is waiting there, and gets up above Lux to send a glancing header into the net.
He’s now in double figures for the season, and Madrid are already in total control.
